United Airlines launches new routes

United Airlines, a Star Alliance member, is set to initiate daily nonstop services connecting Guam and Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport from May 1, 2024. These flights will be available throughout the year, offering a direct route to Japan’s capital thanks to Haneda’s closeness to downtown Tokyo.

The introduction of these services extends United’s already robust schedule of 32 weekly flights from Guam to Tokyo-Narita, enhancing connectivity between these locations.

The airline has chosen the Boeing 737-800 for this route, equipped to accommodate 166 passengers, including 16 in business class.

Flight schedules are as follows: departure from Guam at 19:00 local time, arriving in Haneda at 22:00 the same day. The return flight will leave Haneda at 23:55, reaching Guam at 04:45 the next day.

Patrick Quayle, United’s Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances, highlighted the significance of this expansion, stating, “In our pursuit to expand our global network, we aim to offer our customers more options and fortify international relations. This service, linking Tokyo’s most accessible airport with our Guam hub, achieves exactly this. We’re grateful for the Department of Transportation’s support, acknowledging the value of this route for our customers and partners.”

As Guam’s leading carrier, United offers over 87 weekly flights across 14 destinations. With a history of more than 55 years in Guam, United remains the sole operator of flights from Guam to Osaka, Fukuoka, and Nagoya in Japan, as well as to locations in the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, and Palau.

This new route increases United’s daily flights from Haneda to six, adding to existing routes to New York/Newark, Washington D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and now Guam.

Additionally, United maintains 10 daily flights from Tokyo’s Narita airport, covering New York/Newark, Houston, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Guam, and Saipan.
